Our Service Procedure

What to expect when my house is getting the siding replaced

  1. Now that you have made the decision to use our services, you will be notified of an approximate starting date.  A few days before this date, the project manager will meet with you and perform a walk around with you to inform you of anything that may need to be moved to gain access to the work area and address any concerns you may have.  At this time, the location for the siding materials, dumpster and portable toilet will be established.  A few days may pass after this before the work actually starts on your house.
  2. Delivery of siding materials, dumpster, and portable toilet.
  3. At this time please remove any valuables from the inside of exterior walls.  Both the removal and installation of new siding will cause vibrations that may cause items to fall.
  4. Our uniformed, drug tested, crews will arrive and start the process of removing the existing siding, weatherizing the walls, and installing the new siding and trim.
  5. Be assured that precautions will be made to protect your lawn and landscaping, including tying back and covering plants and shrubs if necessary.
  6. Materials used on your home include but are not limited to:
    1. Dupont Tyvek Homewrap. All of the existing building paper will be removed so that we can check entire home for dry rot. Be aware of other companies that may leave the existing building paper on to save money. www.dupont.com
    2. Dupont Tyvek tape and Straightflash system. All of the seams in the Tyvek will be taped with Dupont’s own brand of tape to guarantee a permanent seal of the joints for an airtight, waterproof house wrap.  Also, we will use the Tyvek Straightflash system around all windows, doors, and roof flashing to ensure the most weatherproof house possible. www.dupont.com
    3. Foundation metal flashing will be installed along the bottom edge of the wall to prevent and any moisture or insects from getting into the wall sheathing.
    4. Z-metal flashing. All horizontal trim (windows, doors, deck rims, etc.) will have painted, not galvanized, flashing installed.  Painted flashing will not peel after it is painted like galvanized flashings do.
    5. Hardie Trim. All exterior trim will be Hardie Trim, manufactured by James Hardie. Using Hardie Trim rather than wood provides for a uniform finish on the entire exterior of your home including having all material on the same paint schedule. Hardie Trim will not warp, split, or peel like wood trim and comes with a 15 year warranty. www.jameshardie.com
    6. James Hardie Hardieplank lap siding. The Hardieplank siding of your choice will be installed using stainless steel ring shank nails.  James Hardie recommends the use of stainless steel nails rather than the less expensive electro-galvanized nails.  The siding will be installed according to manufacturer’s specifications including the no caulk method of field joints (All field joints are left un-caulked and a piece of metal flashing is installed behind the joint.  This procedure results in a smoother wall with much less maintenance). www.jameshardie.com
    7. Caulking. All of the windows, doors, and trim will be caulked using Sonolastic TX-1 caulking.
  7. As the job progresses the crew will make every effort to make as little impact on your daily activities as possible.  Remember there will be no smoking, music, or any behavior that is not professional on your property.  The crews will clean up at the end of each work day and cover any unused material to keep your home looking as neat as possible during the residing process.
  8. When the job is nearly finished you will have the opportunity to do another walk around with the project manager to make sure that everything is done to your liking, “We’re not happy until you’re happy”, this will give time for the crews to finish up any items before leaving you job.
  9. After the crews are done the project manager will do a final detail of the job to make sure everything is completed and it is ready to be painted.
